Zuhair Murad’s bridal lineup of fantasy gowns offered signature elaborate beading on a bevy of silhouettes, with plenty of drama to boot. Fitted mermaid, princess and ballgowns featured bead-and-thread embroidery on tulle and lace, adding plenty of surface texture on ethereal, sheer fabrics. There were references to bohemian styles with free-flowing trains, and to Grace Kelly in the high-neck collar and embellished sheer long sleeves. A deep V-neck column gown was simple and stunning with an attached skirt overlay. But the real excitement for this season came in the form of layering options, including a dramatic cape held up by the shoulders and a sculpted waist coat with bell sleeves and oversize ruffles to pair over a mermaid dress. Removable options like these elevated the gowns to something very formal, taken off only when the bride feels ready to dance the night away.
