Serkan Cura’s passion for corsetry, crystals and feathers — his specialty — shows no sign of abating. All those ingredients are kindred of cabaret, and his clothes are very much showpieces. Cue an agonizingly slow procession of immaculately produced sculptural feats running the gamut from a body cage built from feather quills to teddy jackets embroidered in a fluttering, fluffy mass of feathers perfectly recreating a bird’s plumage.
Playing on volumes and soft and hard textures, Cura went from second-skin bodysuits in allover salmon-hued corset lacing to a vortex of feather fans attached to a crystal corset base. The level of workmanship was truly impressive, but the camp, showgirl delivery could do with an overhaul.
