Jeffrey Monteiro kept things clean for fall with a notably trim and tailored look. Coats in wool or bonded satin hugged the body and were shown over slim pants and pencil skirts. Some jackets had a military slant with front pockets and bold buttons, but the look was decidedly evening. The designer was at his best with pieces like a short black houndstooth jacquard dress and a long gold metallic knit gown. But he also played with color — including blues, red, dark green, gold and black — in the form of contrasting panels that added interest to simple looks. Some dresses and coats featured brightly colored sleeves or embroidered strips down the arm, which added a sporty, youthful feel to an otherwise stark collection.
