Elie Tahari was in party mode at his presentation on Thursday. His showroom felt a lot like a crowded bash, with models (some who were the designer’s friends, family and staff) visibly enjoying themselves, sipping Champagne and, a rarity during fashion week, actually smiling. “It’s about love, it’s from the heart,” said Tahari, who personally oversaw this collection after his creative director left late last year. Tahari stuck to a palette of deep purples, turquoise and strong blues and greens, sometimes styling hues of the same tone in one look, i.e., a purple leather jacket with a purple blouse and navy pencil skirt. Highlights came when he mixed up patterns, particularly in the blue fitted blazer with a brocadelike front and herringbone sleeves, paired with slim-cut pants.
