Amy Smilovic’s fall Tibi collection began with thoughts about the Amish and pastoral lifestyles. She questioned how they would translate into a modern urban environment and the answer was on her runway.
Coats were first up and came fashioned in blue felted and fleece-wool combinations, as well as in fuzzy belted mohair in a rich red. Knits were abundant, from the extra-long fringed scarves to sweeping caftans that may as well have come with a walking stick to survey the land. Men’s wear fabrics were used for blazers and pants, the latter cut slouchy and cropped to better show off the cool pointed brogues. A smart translation of Amish chic, this was a very strong collection.
