Shinsuke Morishita aimed to create an “alternate side of minimalism” for his fall show, set in a small event space in the trendy Daikanyama neighborhood. He opened with a series of all-black looks including slim tuxedo trousers, leather jackets, flouncy knee-length skirts and shirts overlaid in lace.
Gorgeous details and textures were abundant, with baby blue and mint green embroidery decorating the sleeves of sweaters and cutouts adding a bit of sex appeal to girly embroidered dresses. Shiny jacquard fabrics were used for slim, pajama-like pant suits.
Morishita tapped handbag designer Maiko Takeda to design the transparent clutches covered in colorful plastic spikes, and Yuul Yie for the chunky soled oxfords with tiny pops of color.
