Stacey Bendet revisited Swinging Sixties London and Seventies-era rock ’n’ roll in her glamorous fall collection, interpreting the bohemian, free-spirited mood in her own way, with plenty of rich texture — generous beading, embroidery, feathers and lace — in a rainbow of jewel tones. There were high-neck gowns in embellished lace as well as ball skirts and floor-length vests in floral-print jacquard. For day, she showed oversize blanket knits, exaggerated wide-leg silk trousers and jackets with pops of shearling and Mongolian fur.
The best silhouettes included a textural blue tailored suit à la Bianca Jagger; a sleek, crystal-embellished jumpsuit, and a Mongolian fur vest over a Mod leather-and-suede shift dress. Many of the looks came with matching coats — Bendet said she amped up her outerwear this season — and worn with chunky knits, teeny-tiny embellished suede shorts and over-the-knee boots, they captured Sixties nostalgia with aplomb.
