Minimalism and extravagance — Marie Mazelis channeled those seemingly opposite ideas in her fall collection for Halston Heritage. “I really wanted to design a collection that was sensual, feminine and that women want to wear,” she said during a walk-through.

 

Evening looks from gowns to retro-chic jumpsuits were sexed-up with chiffon insets, cutouts and cut-away hemlines as well as touches of fur, hardware and ombré sequins. Daywear, dressier than in seasons past, featured plunging necklines and billowy blouses with slit sleeves. A subtle Asian influence ran throughout the looks — seen in satin obi belts, kimono sleeves and Chinese calligraphy prints — inspired by Halston’s trip to China in 1980.
