Welcome to Alejandra Alonso’s dinner party. Before her presentation for À Moi, the designer said she looked to “different cultures coming together at the dinner table” via a culinary journey of vintage cookbooks, table settings and gingham linens — as well as the works of Pablo Picasso. All of this translated into a festive feast.

Alonso showed some terrific outerwear, most notably a fur sailor-stripe coat, a cozy, oversize plaid knit dress and a humorous recipe-motif turtleneck. A fish-plate print on a dress and on knits, however, was a little too literal interpretation of her theme. She also presented a few evening looks, among them a calf hair pantsuit and long, textured column dresses, that were an interesting attempt to bring a youthfulness to the category, but Alonso’s strength was in her daywear.
