Norma Kamali has built her business on her own terms. “Fashion has become less important and lifestyle has become more so,” she said. But lifestyle incorporates fashion, and at the end of the day, women want to look and feel good.

In her Kamali Kulture collection, where each piece retails for less than $100, she offered bodysuit shirts, slipdresses, dolman wrap dresses, jumpsuits and a dress in an array of patterns that can be worn multiple ways.

Kamali also showed her capsule collection Go (travel-oriented pieces that can all be rolled up and thrown into a bag) and her activewear line, where she worked a patchwork print into everything from outerwear to leggings. There were also slouchy sweatpants with reflective band stripes, a playful mix of studded sweats and message T-shirts with the slogan “I am invincible.”

All were great basics, but what really stood out were outerwear looks in her signature collection: the reworked sleeping-bag coats, most notably the marble-print version, and the reversible bonded-terry trench.
