A darker, more sensual woman was on Tamara Mellon’s mind for fall — perhaps a modern-day version of the medieval female warriors popularized on TV shows like “Game of Thrones” and “Once Upon a Time.” Beaded ombré fringe covered a long dress and top while black-and-blue metallic lamé separates recalled chain mail worn under armor. A standout fitted leather jacket covered in paillettes was on the right side of costume-y, as was a red, full-length hooded cape that drove home the forest fairy-tale mood.
But even this strong lady needs a soft side. Victorian blouses in butterfly-pattern lace, dainty insets on pants and jackets and an ombré-chiffon feather effect on the bodice of a long black dress topped by a Mongolian fur vest addressed her dark, romantic inner damsel.
