Backstage at her show, Tanya Taylor spoke about being inspired by an iridescent fish lure. “I was really attracted to its beautiful colors and texture and to the fact that there is something functional about it,” she said. On the runway, she dove into her theme via multiple references, but most literally with holographic fish spine prints done in silver over black on tiered skirts with matching tops and a short dress with a sheer insert.
Amplifying the underwater theme was a great flowy cami midi dress in a reef print shown in contrasting colorways and one in a “fish eye” embroidery worn over a scuba turtleneck.
On a more terrestrial note, Taylor delivered strong outerwear options, including a layered camel wool coat and a paneled jacket in black with burgundy and navy. “There is a sense of humor here, a lightness — our girl definitely has that and I wanted to let her live it,” she said.
