Ping! Lewis showed an upbeat, girlish collection with patterns and textures inspired by pinball arcades and Japan’s otherworldly pachinko parlors with their extreme colored lighting and pinging slot machines.
Miniskirts were made from crystal fabric with geometric zigzag patterns meant to mimic a pinball’s path. “I wanted to create the energy of the sounds and lights you feel in an arcade,” said the designer during the presentation.
Fitted metallic leather jackets and trousers, as well as transparent skirts, sparkled with small colored crystal badges with arcade lingo such as “tilt” and “3x.” Sweaters were embroidered with crystals, too, and layered under A-line dresses with deep V-necks.
Not everything came embellished, however. Lewis layered a cropped chunky cardigan over an elegant crepe jumpsuit, and showed off a long turtleneck, slashed up the side, and ribbed sweaters with extralong sleeves, as a foil to all of the collection’s sparkle.
