Where can you take a kilt? How do you move forward with such a simple idea? Le Kilt designer Sam McCoach found the answer in a road trip around Scotland visiting the country’s different mills, from Lochcarron and Hainsworth.
Highlights for fall included fluffy mohair miniskirts in canary yellow and a more traditional Black Watch pattern with contrasting panels of calfskin and pleated wool.
McCoach created a capsule knitwear collection using the distinctive Sanquhar technique – a two-color knit pattern originating from the small Scottish “burgh” of the same name.
“Every time someone important visited, they would invent a new stitch,” she explained, “so for my knits, I created a mash-up of these different stitches, a bit like I’ve done with the fabrics in the kilts.”
