“This is dedicated to those unsung heroes, our employees, the artisans that are behind Made in Italy; it’s our way of thanking them,” said Tod’s chief Diego Della Valle of a performance by Vanessa Beecroft, “VB Handmade,” staged at the PAC, Milan’s contemporary art museum. Karlie Kloss reclined on a wooden table surrounded by other models — all wearing pieces of hand-stitched leather – standing around a veteran Tod’s artisan in a white lab coat.

Leather was the centerpiece of the fall collection designed by Alessandra Facchinetti. Trenches, biker jackets, blazers, dresses and the brand’s core moccasins and the Wave bag were stitched in contrasting leather colors with graphic and tartan patterns, at times intentionally irregular and often ornamented with leather tassels. Full leather skirts showed pleats and metal details that at times reached visual overload. The new moccasin, the Double T, marked by a double clasp, is paired with the bag with the same name, which, in its edgier version, shows metal studs in checks.
