Katharine Polk is getting rid of the noise by focusing on her customer and each piece that she designs. “It’s so much better now that I don’t show,” the Houghton designer explained. “I get to focus on quality and on what works for us and what I do best.”

What works for Polk and her four-year-old brand is definitely feminine with an edge. Beautiful lacework pieces done in casual silhouettes have always been her go-to looks, and for fall she expanded on this via a mostly black-and-white palette of lace-sleeved blouses, mock-neck maxidresses and lace-inset robes. “I wanted everything to be special,” she said.

But Polk also always offers more grounded complementary basics. This time around it was bodysuits that were actually button-up blouses built on Commando panties, as well as the perfect tank and the perfect T-shirt — well-thought-out indeed.
