For Max Mara’s latest capsule collection of coats, fashion director Laura Lusuardi set her sights on Lauren Hutton, aiming to capture the Seventies supermodel’s effortless style. In a neutral palette punctuated with a few pops of red, Lusuardi’s oversize silhouettes conveyed a relaxed, boyish attitude, especially when rendered in classic men’s wear fabrics, such as an ankle-skimming herringbone style with a fitted empire waist. Tailored wrap and notch-lapel coats in double-faced wool and cashmere featured leather waist belts and brushed mohair collars that mimicked fur.

The collection also offered some classically feminine shapes, including toppers in red or fluffy camel, and a long black-and-white wool bouclé with a flirty, flared hemline.
