For her collection’s 10th anniversary, Nili Lotan thought long and hard about the modern woman’s wardrobe, based on her own experiences. “It’s almost philosophical in a way,” she said, “in constantly asking, ‘What are those pieces that a woman needs and cannot live without?'”

The answer, according to Lotan’s fall lineup, is seasonless, timeless, effortless pieces in the most luxurious materials. She started with white shirts and great pants, which she considers the pillars of any wardrobe. “I am a pants person. This is not easy to do — the perfect pants,” she explained. But she’s had practice, and here she delivered a variety of on-point styles: a wide-leg slouchy look in cotton or wool (with side slits discreet enough only to be seen with movement), a worn-in cropped and flared “jean” and a “carpenter” style with a slightly dropped crotch.

Outerwear was also key. Lotan said she prefers a robe coat over anything, and she offered it in several versions and in colors ranging from Army green to camel. The fit — like everything in Lotan’s repertoire — was laid-back and cool.
