By naming it “Mirror Mirror,” Nicky Zimmermann set the tone of her fall lineup, which was heavy on reflective effects, shiny fabrics and sparkling details. She offered her very feminine take on an India theme, taking a hyperdecorative approach that was playful, young and maximalist.

 

Bomber jackets and fluid, wide-legged pants were done in rich patterns with an Eastern feel — as well as in a mannish pinstriped motif. Along with Zimmermann’s relaxed maxidresses and jumpsuits, they definitely exuded a cool factor. This effect was lacking, however, when the designer veered into too girly and sugar-coated territories, namely an overwhelming range of metallic lace dresses with mirror embellishments and printed flared frocks.
