In her first presentation on the official Paris calendar, New York-based French designer Alix Petit was dreaming of the great outdoors. Her hunter-gatherer Shelter collection evolved towards leaner silhouettes, but was still full to the brim with her staple cosy knitwear, as in chunky cardigan coats and slim-line sweater dresses with a Nordic feel, and parkas, one of her references, especially appealing in a khaki wool, mohair and cotton blend that had the texture of a mossy riverbank.

The teeming rivers of Alaska were referenced in skirts and pants with a murky fish-scale print. Ample skirts stopped below the knee, giving them a geeky charm, while touches of femininity were added in black lace crochet with a vintage feel. Items like a navy and brown zig-zag patterned pantsuit gave parts of the collection an urban edge nevertheless, promising appeal for city dwellers too.
