Designer Julia Leifert introduced more demure looks into her previously utilitarian lineup this season, explaining that “the Philomena Zanetti woman is strong, but also has a feminine side.” Thus, silky, pussy-bow blouses, floaty pleated skirts and a long royal blue sleeveless coat with gold buttons were successfully added to a collection “inspired by surrealism,” and dominated by rich russet, pumpkin and dark blue hues. Leifert is committed to her vegan, sustainable ethos, using mostly recycled polyester, micro-modal fabrics — all created in Berlin — in this collection. Her dedication is commendable, but some fabrics, such as a vegan suede-look material used for puffy jackets and short, fitted dresses, simply missed the mark.
