For his 10 Crosby collection for fall, Derek Lam held onto COVID-19-era comfort while adding some color, refinement and proportion play to his versatile, affordable sportswear.
The look: Uncomplicated wardrobe classics.
Quote of note: “During COVID-19, our e-commerce business has grown, and we’re encouraged by the growth,” said Lam, who sold his business to Public Clothing Co. in January 2020 after closing his luxury collection to focus on the contemporary 10 Crosby. “We also still have amazing wholesale partners. Saks, we are one of their pillars, and Neiman Marcus is coming out with a strong focus on us. I think we’re at a point where we are ready to move onto some excitement and growth in the business.”
Standout pieces: Dip-dye ribbed knit dress; fringe leather blazers, Army green utility pants and shorts, camel cable knit sweats; hybrid blue mélange jacket with knit back and cuffs; sea foam green hoodie and matching crepe skirt; black sailor trousers with brass buttons.
The takeaway: Comfort — and tie-dye — aren’t going anywhere. Lam covered these basics, as well as offering a few more directional sparks.
