For the fall season, designer Marcell Pustul of Marcell von Berlin teamed with stylist and Lady Gaga creative director Nicola Formichetti. Together the duo designed a vibrant, glam collection focused on the celebration of optimistic fashions, coming out of the pandemic.

“There are a lot of designers making cozy stuff and adopting brands to the situation like it is now; I’m the designer who loves to show colorful pieces, I do a lot of prints. I stuck to the idea of my brand,” Pustul explained over Zoom. “The time will be better, I see the light at the end.”

Shot at the iconic Eric Lloyd Wright house in Malibu, Calif., the film unveils the fall collection to a bumping, clubby soundtrack. Garments ranging from high-shine sequined frocks, sharp leather fashions and vibrant suiting emerge while accessorized with dramatic, oversize hats and an assortment of playful footwear and handbags.  

The look: Glamour with edge. The collection offers ample day and eveningwear in uplifting, bold colors.

Quote of note: “Because of the collaboration with Nicola, we created a lot of super ’80s silhouettes — big shoulders — but still very sexy. For the first time this season, I created very short dresses. I love to work with leather, but we also did shine leather this season.…We created these pieces with Nicola to make the collection pop more.”

Key looks: Saturated suiting in kelly green and vibrant shades of pink; faux fur jackets with sharp shoulders; short dresses with puffed sleeves and ruffle details, in denim and leather; a feathered strapless gown atop printed catsuit; brightly colored full-length knit dresses with cutout details at the shoulder.

The takeaway: While the full collection (including handbags, footwear and commercial offerings) was mentioned to include upward of 250 styles, the fall collection’s look book film and photoshoot displayed the best of Formichetti and Pustul’s glam assortment.
