“The collection is based on how I feel — it’s clean, as in more simple…I feel like less is more,” designer Natalie Ratabesi said over Zoom in regard to her fall Tre by Natalie Ratabesi collection.
The designer has always worked to design ultra-cool interpretations of timeless pieces — from suiting to denim to street sweats; this idea was no different for fall. In lieu of gowns (which she has always included within past collections — a sign of the times), she amped up low-slung sweats and classic hoodies — in neutral and playful pink/purple ombre hues — alongside a myriad of jackets (reversible shearlings to classic blazers, bombers and more) and stellar new takes on her innovative denim jeans.
The look: Elevated, intriguing takes on everyday essentials.
Quote of note: “The good thing is Tre has always been about comfortable clothes — that ‘streetness,’ hoodies, sweats,” Ratabesi explained over Zoom, later adding that, “I always design clothes to be worn many different ways; this collection is pretty much reversible.”
Key pieces: Reversible shearling jackets and pullovers; luxe velour cutout bodysuits and balaclavas; intriguing new denim jeans, including a pair of chaps; the black nylon “vest-pack.”
The takeaway: Although Ratabesi quietly showed her spring collection solely to wholesale partners (due to the pandemic), fall once again displayed her distinct point of view through a tightly edited, strong collection.
