For their first participation in Tokyo Fashion Week, London- and Hong Kong-based designers Ka Wa Key Chow and Jarno Leppanen showed colorful, richly textured knits in unisex styles.
The look: Wide bands of rainbow colors on roomy, fuzzy sweaters contrasted with charcoal gray pants with a soft, fluffy texture for a series of looks that were based on comfort. Other ensembles consisted of bell-bottoms in bold diagonal stripes and frilled or striped shirts that buttoned at an angle across the chest.
Standout pieces: Strips of fabric in contrasting checks came together as shirts and straight-legged pants in diagonal stripes. A turquoise blue cable-knit dress had a slanted hemline and extra-long sleeves for a unique, cozy look.
Takeaway: The combination of bold colors, mixed geometric patterns and contrasting textures of knitwear made for an interesting, eye-catching offering.
