The Lanvin man spruced up for fall without abandoning his affection for technical sportswear. Suits had a pinched, Seventies allure with flared trousers. Silicon injections were used to create the subtle swirls on cable knits worn underneath them. Bold outerwear was the collection’s strong suit, from meaty greatcoats to lustrous black down jackets tossed over tailcoats, and accessorized with high-top sneakers or hiking boots. The soft, unconstructed dropped shoulders, wooly fabrics and feminine palette (going from lilac to reds and duck blues) looked resolutely Lanvin. Like the soundtrack’s powerful clash of musical references (with live pianist Maxence Cyrin competing with a barrage of electronic beats) Lucas Ossendrijver’s take on men’s wear remains confident and directional.
