For fall, Monsieur Lacenaire founder and designer Garance Broca successfully ran with a back-to-school theme.
Her fun, approachable knitwear sported some quirky touches, such as a silhouette of a paper airplane or of a bowling pin. (The Monsieur Lacenaire guy — evidently — has priorities other than studies.)
Broca employed Aran and intarsia techniques, in a wide variety of yarns, to achieve novel patterns and trompe l’oeil effects. Take the mountain design on one sweater that seemed fashioned from jacquard, but was simply a mix of stitches. This is knitwear made modern.
