When high-altitude trekking meets urban dressing it can be a tricky combination, but Z Zegna’s creative directors Francesco Muzi and Murray Scallon mastered the differences with wit and an interesting run of fabrics. Their tweeds were spun from yarns with 3-D effects in exclusive colorways, including acid green and burnt orange; rubberized, thermo-welded maxi rain macs came with sharp, laser-cut edges for a sleek urban look, and the brand’s wearable technology program extended to tailoring this season, allowing coats and blazers to be heated via a wireless support system. The label’s fall offering also stood out via handsome retro-tinged silhouettes reminiscent of Twenties alpine fashion. The carrot-shaped trekking pants and more roomy tweed bottoms looked particularly dandy.
