Barcelona-based designer Juan Avellaneda is attempting to build his status by filling a gap between Italian and British men’s tailoring with comfortable and wearable designs that have a distinct Iberian edge.

The main focus of his fall 2016 collection is a broad range of outerwear and suit jackets in luxurious fabrics such as shearling and mohair where texture is key — a sharply cut tailored jacket, for example, is worked in bouclé mohair to original and appealing effect, while his fur-lined hide jackets stand out both for the quality of their craftsmanship and a color palette of pale blue and burgundy, unusual in men’s wear. The collection is completed with a range of wool pants, many gathered at the ankle, as well as shirts and accessories.

Subtle yet different, Avellaneda’s designs have already attracted a strong following on Instagram, with fans reportedly include Ronnie Wood. With this fifth collection, the first he has presented in Paris, the affable Spaniard hopes to double his distribution for fall with some major accounts.
