Rustic peasant workwear got an elegant, contemporary spin for Isabel Benenato’s first Paris presentation, inspired by the woodlands around her home near Florence.

The Italian designer employed earthy fabrics such as wool, linen, alpaca and leather for her loose, slouchy silhouettes in an almost monochrome palette of black, white and touches of murky green.

Pants were cropped, tapered or rolled up at the ankle to reveal thick socks, while long cardigans doubled up as cosy coats over tailored jackets and Mao-collared shirts. Soft leather messenger bags hugged the body for an extra layer of warmth.
