Not content with churning out generic, branded merchandise for motor heads, the folks at Lamborghini wanted to put their name on proper collections, which they’ve now begun to show during Milan men’s week.
They’re doing a respectable job: While they’re still making branded polo shirts and jackets for fans, they’re also doing classic, tailored pieces and revisiting some vintage designs — to charming effect.
The luxe, more formal end of the collection featured tailored jackets made from zigzag intarsia knits or textured silk; a tobacco leather version with quilted lining, and small leather goods with a shadowy V-shaped pattern meant to mimic the treads on tires.
Bags were made from carbon fiber — soft and hard — and can be customized to match the colors of one’s car interiors.
Vintage-inspired pieces were a highlight, including a navy sweater with a spongy texture and tone-on-tone lettering that read Automobili Lamborghini; a wool one with an abstract gear box design at the front, and a boiled wool baseball jacket.
