Patrik Ervell was clearly thinking outside the box this season, using household materials such as polyurethane and vinyl as the fabrics of choice for his spring collection. “It’s an excuse to experiment with very technical fabrics,” Ervell said backstage before the show. While the pieces were familiar — bombers, cropped raincoats and shorts — the innovative fabrics led to more structured silhouettes and a modern look. The effort worked best in hooded raincoats and traditional mackintoshes. The overall feel was very futuristic, but when taken piece by piece, they can easily become part of the present.
