Chris Modoo, creative and buying manager at Chester Barrie, said “great fabrics” had led the way for the Savile Row tailor’s spring collection. “It was a vintage year for the cloth mills,” he said. Those materials included lightweight wools in a mélange weave in summery shades of pale blues and pinks. Modoo worked those into slim-fitting suits with peaked shoulders and slim pants with cuffed hems.
He also did a jacket in a navy seersucker fabric, made from a super 150s wool blended with silk, which Modoo noted had “more drape” to it than a workaday seersucker. And to give the suits a fun, off-duty edge, Modoo paired them with gingham check shirts, polka-dot ties and paisley pocket squares. “It’s for the guy who doesn’t have to wear a suit, he wants to wear a suit,” said Modoo.
