Dubbed the “boyfriend’s closet” by Frida Giannini, Gucci’s pre-fall collection follows in the vein of her strong, heritage-themed men’s collection she showed last month. A modern and understated luxury rules as Giannini sticks to minimalist shapes and pushes a beguiling combo of peach-handed silk camisoles with plunging necklines, tucked into wide-leg pants and topped with oversize coats, shaggy furs, long ribbed cardigans and even a dapper, unlined suede trench. To underscore this simple side of luxury, Giannini sticks to a palette of pantry hues such as butter white and biscuit browns.
