Kate Spade creative director Deborah Lloyd is clearly thinking vacation with her summer and pre-fall collections, grouped into April, May and June deliveries. There are Fifties-inspired full silhouettes in easy day dresses and skirts, and the palette is predominantly black and white with graphic gingham, stripes and lace patterns. The accessories, on the other hand, are loaded with color. The first stop (April) is the Tropics with oversize totes and bags in green leaf prints and woven straw. Next up is Africa (May), where orange looks are accented with touches of chocolate brown and gold. The standout, though, is a white wicker “elephant” basket purse. For June, the theme is San Francisco: bow-bedecked totes in yellow and turquoise checks and dots, as well as bold frame bags and clutches with custom resin and wood closures.
