“Pre-fall is a great time for me to work on fabrics and technical details and hone a collection before the fall rush,” said Prabal Gurung. Inspired by Baz Luhrmann’s “Romeo + Juliet,” he said he wanted to capture the film’s “youthful defiance.” This collection, which he pointed out is larger in size and more varied in price points, included his favorite floral-printed pants and shirts in bright bolds, as well as coats and simple dresses in lightweight tweeds worked in Mexican patterns. Elegant sheaths under shaped heather-gray jackets and two-tone easy silk dresses helped balance the blatantly festive.
