Maiyet cofounder Kristy Caylor drew from the minimal curves of Brancusi sculptures as well as the landscapes and, yes, cowboy culture of Mongolia, where much of the label’s cashmere is produced. The artisanal touches, such as the appliqué on the front of a silk blouse and the chunky woolly knit on a short skirt, infused the polished shapes — jodhpurs, capes and cropped jackets — with a rich, hand-done quality. Marrying indigenous craft with superior luxury is the mission at Maiyet and it continues to evolve to an impressive level, not only in the clothes but the organic shapes of the fine jewelry and the handbags, a slim, trim midnight blue ponyskin style in particular.
