Creative director Nicola Formichetti said Mugler’s mix-and-match pre-fall collection was built on Sixties Sci-Fi fashion crossed with Nineties grunge. The eclectic lineup might be the most relaxed one that Formichetti and women’s designer Sébastien Peigné have produced for the brand. The clothes have the look of a cool L.A. girl’s vintage wardrobe, with pieces that range from a roomy cocoon coat, to a futuristic sculpted miniskirt, to a patent leather jacket with a pastel fur lining. A psychedelic print, meanwhile, was plucked from a 1992 Mugler collection reminiscent of Lady Miss Kier’s heyday from New York dance music band Deee-Lite.
