Inspired by the voluminous blankets that Native Americans once wore, Amanda Wakeley’s sleek pre-fall collection highlighted enveloping silhouettes to create what she called an “effortless” mood. Cocooning coats came in gray or bright red felted wool, while a snug-looking cream sheepskin cape was paired with slim white pants.

Wakeley also worked the blanket idea in more fluid fabrics, such as a standout T-shirt dress in dark bottle-green techno cady that draped around the body and fastened with a gold pin at the neckline. For evening, the designer conjured up several simple but striking looks, as in a floor-length black tank dress inset at the neck and hips with panels of gold embroidery that recalled Aztec patterns.
