Alessandro Dell’Acqua strove for “something between Hollywood and something childish” for pre-fall, contrasting the grandeur of duchesse satin gowns and extravagant embroideries with the sweet naïveté of drop-waist dresses, whimsical glove prints and, most overtly, chunky mary janes with elaborately embroidered heels. Styled with athletic-inspired socks and mannish overcoats, the look was consistent with the eclectic line Dell’Acqua has toed at Rochas, where his strange mix breaks down into strong novelty items, such as the double-face wool and cashmere coats in camel and robin’s egg blue and the fanciful footwear.
