Not-so-basic basics summed up Beckett Fogg and Piotrek Panszczyk’s first pre-fall collection of everyday garments — cotton T-shirts and fur-collared parkas — that were embossed and plated. “It always starts with texture for us,” Panszczyk said. Every piece was tactile: croc-embossed blouses and jackets; stretch lame skirts and dresses; great button-down shirts with flared sleeves in a virgin wool and polyester blend that was also water-repellant. The lineup fit Panszczyk’s definition of Area’s philosophy: “very wearable with a sense of personality.”
