Christian Siriano approached pre-fall in a retail-focused way. “They want options,” he said, explaining that a store in Dubai will obviously have significantly different needs than one in Texas. So the challenge is to cover all the bases while staying on track, design-wise. “I just thought about the sex appeal in the works of Helmut Newton and Bianca Jagger,” he said.
There’s plenty to go on from there, starting with solid suiting in black, magenta and high blue as well as graphic white and black dressing — which was most successful in a simple crepe, long sleeve sheath with a panel of white buttons along the sleeve, and trickier in a cutout and caped LBD. Siriano’s well-known flight of fantasy was let loose in the gowns. A magenta column gown with ruffled cape-sleeves, a black mock neck with tulle train, a gray jacquard princess cut and a fuchsia bell sleeved column stood out.
