Considering Hervé Léger by Max Azria was built on a singular design concept — the bandage dress — pre-fall marked a significant shift in direction. Max and Lubov Azria’s latest lineup explored a sportier, more relaxed attitude within the realm of body-con dressing, loosening some of the strict silhouettes with pleated skirts. They drove the collection’s new laid-back mood home by styling every look with boyish oxford flats.

 

Inspired by military g-suits, the duo decked out dresses, done in army greens and neutrals, with utilitarian elements such as elastic straps, buckles and zippers. While some of the looks felt overwrought with patterns and embellishments, a pair of clean, short dresses in purple and mauve — both built with pockets, a first for the brand — expressed the ease the designers had in mind.
