After hitting the slopes last winter for the first time in 10 years, Karen Walker found herself thinking about chic clothing with functionality. With old-school skiwear as her starting point, Walker’s pre-fall collection had a funky utility influence seen in khaki wrap skirts and crisp poplin shirting, all of it serving to complement the lineup’s delicate ruffled blouses and dresses. Mosaic and flame prints in an earthy palette nodded to the Seventies. A series of indigo denim looks, which Walker rendered in atypical silhouettes such as harem pants trimmed with an elasticized ribbed knit at the ankles, were a highlight.
