Lela Rose stumbled upon photographs from a past trip to Istanbul, sourcing inspiration from Byzantine silks and Turkish tiles. In varying shades of coral, green and blue, Rose worked her cocktail dresses and evening separates in rich textural fabrics, most notably a navy fil coupé with metallic shredded tinsel that was light as a feather and sparkled with movement. Decorative touches, such as metallic vine embroidery, colorful floral lace and abstracted tile prints, lent the looks an eclecticism. The most interesting dress silhouette featured folded, architectural sleeves, a nod to the traditional costumes worn by Turkey’s Whirling Dervishes.
