So asked the MM6 design collective as it approached pre-fall, a checklist of schoolyard dress codes — masculine, feminine, geek and jock — twisted with Margiela-esque humor and finesse. The lineup was a cool, wearable distillation of Maison standards for a more broad but still edgy audience. Two jackets stood out: a shiny black vinyl raincoat that reversed to blue plaid flannel and an oversize reversible nylon varsity jacket. They were styled, respectively, with big pleather basketball shorts and thigh-high velvet boots with chunky silver heels. The lineup also featured deconstructed pinstripe suiting, a funny plush, teddy bear textured jacket and pants, and a red dress that could be worn a bunch of different ways by wrapping the sleeves and using the cut outs along the shoulders as various neckline options.
