For her first pre-fall collection, Tanya Taylor wanted to make sure she nailed the season’s transitional nature. She introduced new fabrics such as lightweight suede and silk wool gauze. “It’s not as precious as a chiffon, but it’s so easy and light,” she said of the latter, rendered in a printed tie-neck blouse. “I wanted things to feel like they were almost falling off the body.”
Languid, easy silhouettes defined the feminine lineup. For example, a short-sleeved V-neck dress featured cascading buttons from top to bottom. There was a sportiness throughout — subtle on a feminine, cutout shoulder dress with athletic trim, and more overt on Taylor’s take on a leather letterman jacket, which incorporated her company’s logo for the first time.
