Since fall was stiff and structured and spring, he said, is going to be light, Alexander Wang focused on “the idea of suspension, cutting things apart and tacking them back together” for an interim season of sporty basics enlivened with edgy details. Working in mostly black, white and beige, plus a few shots of neon, Wang played hard against soft with croc-embossed leather, parachute silks and lingerie effects. Of the latter, one of the best looks was a sheer slipdress slit up the sides and paired with black leather track shorts. A white knit tank, completely bare in the back except for a couple of skinny bra straps, worn with loose, high-waisted trousers cut below the knee, was a strong silhouette that felt modern and sexy. Robust lug boots with milky white soles anchored each look, and a new bag, the Pelican Sling, was a small, streamlined style with a removable lizard-printed flap.
