“The girl from Ipanema heads to Argentina’s Pampas.” That’s how Maiyet cofounder Kristy Caylor described resort, the first preseason collection for the label with a social responsibility ethos. The inspiration was spot-on, resulting in highly wearable clothes full of artisanal charm and summer ease. There were hand-painted and embroidered pieces in hues and motifs mimicking South American landscapes, from a white top with an abstract floral design paired with orange shorts, to a lightweight black blouse with embroidered sleeves topping a hand-painted skirt. Even the sunburstlike pleat on skirts had the appeal of a lovely summer day.
