Sergei Diaghilev’s “The Rite of Spring,” which marked its 100th anniversary on Wednesday, served as the starting point of Max Mara’s resort collection, presented at an intimate runway show on Thursday. The ballet’s theme — celebrating ideas of spring as if to hasten the season mind-set during the cold months — was reflected in the bright hues and “slouchy mix” of the lineup, noted head designer Ian Griffiths. The look was relaxed with chic, double-face color-blocked raincoats and easy tops with languid drawstring pants. The palette was equally appealing, i.e., a tailored green jacket with a contrasting blue peplum. Pastel mink collar accessories added a light touch, as did a vibrant kaleidoscope pattern, which, on a dress and blouse, indeed suggested the promise of sunnier days ahead.
